Alms offered by local residents

10 Years Later, Luang Prabang.

2007, my first visit to Luang Prabang. Be honest, there is nothing special about Luang Prabang in eyes of Thai. Nothing too old, nothing very fancy, nothing spectacular – but not that bad so. Since Luang Prabang was listed in the UNESCO World Heritage Site “Town Of Luang Prabang” in1995 for unique and “remarkably” well preserved architectural, religious and cultural heritage, a blend of the rural and urban developments over several centuries, including the French colonial influences during the 19th and 20th centuries – every morning always attractive.

Wake up at 5am – hopefully for most tourist destination – as every morning at sunrise, monks walk in a procession through the streets accepting alms offered by local residents, an event popular with tourists. I was there before.

One, very impressive moment is local lady sitting, peacefully offering an alms to monks. All good tourist like me chase such chance and took many photo of her then leaving before a chance to say good bye.

Back in 2017, I’ve been with Beer Lao for Songkran event. I’ve my time to met her once. And It’s good chance to talk to her. She still very healthy in her age and so really surprise of having such graceful photo. And so blessing me before we say good bye.

It’s took 10 years to own such chance, to talking with living history.

I feel good.
